Reviews Round-Up; including Children’s Book of the Month in The Bookseller, and some Mischief Making news!

Since Advanced Review Copies were sent out in December, The House with Chicken Legs has received some really wonderful reviews. A few of my favourites include reviews from Book Lover JoThe Reader TeacherThe Bookbag, and North Somerset CBG.

Usborne gathered together pages of amazing quotes for inclusion in the final book:

It has also been brilliant to hear feedback from readers on twitter. There is nothing quite like the feeling of knowing a story that began in your imagination is now playing out in the imagination of readers, and it has been been wonderful to hear The House with Chicken Legs has entertained, comforted, and resonated with all kinds of readers … and inspired some fan art too!

Another incredible experience at the start of 2018 was being interviewed by the lovely Fiona Noble, Children’s & YA previews editor for The Bookseller. She wrote a fantastic piece, which featured in the January issue of The Bookseller

… and in the same issue I was absolutely thrilled to discover The House with Chicken Legs had been chosen as Book of The Month!

Shortly afterwards, The House with Chicken Legs featured in The Bookseller again – this time on the front cover of The Children’s Spring Buyer’s Guide!

Another exciting piece of news is that The House with Chicken Legs will be part of The Reading Agency’s Summer Reading Challenge 2018, which has a Mischief Makers theme inspired by the Beano’s 80th anniversary. Last year over 760,000 children took part in the Summer Reading Challenge. It is an amazing initiative to encourage children to use their local libraries and read over the summer months, and I am thrilled The House with Chicken Legs is on the book list alongside such amazing titles! The full list can be seen here.
