Last week Usborne revealed the title and cover of my next book, The Girl who Speaks Bear! I ADORE the gorgeous cover, illustrated by Kathrin Honesta:

The Girl who Speaks Bear is publishing on 5th September and I can’t wait to share Yanka’s story with the world. Here’s the blurb:

Yanka has always felt out of place in her village. After she was found abandoned in a bear cave as a baby, her Mamochka has always looked after her. But Yanka is stronger and taller than everyone else, and no one seems to understand her.

Yet when Yanka looks into the forest beyond her house, she feels as if something deep between the trees hides the truth of her past. And so, she embarks on a journey to find out who she really is…

Here is a magical animated version of the cover, created by Penelope at Usborne:

The cover shows the main character, Yanka, running with her fierce and brave house weasel, Mousetrap. The owl above them is Blakiston, a loyal friend of Mousetrap.

On top of the bear shaped mountain (what an amazing idea this is – the creation of illustrator Kathrin Honesta) you can see the proud, lone wolf Ivan the Grey.

There are many more characters to discover in the pages … it’s possible that a house with chicken legs might even make an appearance!

The Girl Who Speaks Bear is going to copy edits in the next week or two and ARCs (Advance Reading Copies) will be printed in the next couple of months. I really am so excited to share this story and hope everyone enjoys reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it!
